Travels with Harry - a Photo JournalEngland

Before returning home from Germany, Harry took a very brief sidetrip to Leeds, West Yorkshire, to visit with some business associates there.
Here, he checks out Spenfield House, on the grounds of the Village Hotel, where he and Stark are spending the night. Harry and Stark agreed that the chimneys are really cool.
Below right, Harry checks out some of the local real estate. Since coming to live in Maine, he hasn't seen many stone buildings, and he's surprised at the proliferation of same to be found in Leeds.
Arriving in Leeds mid-morning, Harry had to go straight to the office for a meeting, but after work he had a few hours to wander the neighborhood sightseeing, before meeting his friends for dinner.
He soon discovered an unpretentious little shop in Headingley called "Beer Ritz." Intrigued by the name, Harry stopped in and found an inventory very much to his liking.
Harry found the staff at Beer Ritz presiding over the most dizzying array of beers, ales, bitters and lambics he'd ever seen.
Beers from the British Isles joined those from Europe, Australia, the United States, and New Zealand, and if Harry and Stark had had sufficient time, they could likely have found beers from every continent on the shelves of this very impressive little store.

If you look very carefully at right, you may find Harry inspecting one wall of Beer Ritz's inventory.
While there was little room available in the carry-on baggage for souvenirs, Harry nonetheless scored a bottle of Brakspear Triple, a triple-fermented bitter which was highly recommended by the Beer Ritz staff.
The bottle remains unique in Harry's experience in that it's the first bottle of beer he's seen with a serial number (bottle number 217647, by the way). If you're visiting Leeds and need a good off-license establishment for drinkable souvenirs, look up Beer Ritz: you may just find the best such shop in Britain.
Stepping out of Beer Ritz, Harry was presented with a leaden sky, and it was clearly time to hike back to the hotel to meet friends for dinner.
Having sampled a glass of Timothy Taylor's award-winning Landlord Ale at lunch, Harry opted for a pint of Boddington's at the hotel bar. Harry was forced to confess that a glass of Boddington's goes remarkably well with small chunks of chocolate Easter rabbit.
