Richard Derector,
Sales Manager
Richard Derector has been with Woodex since 1991, which is no mean feat considering the plethora of blinding snowstorms you have to drive through to get to company HQ in the winter, and the gauntlet of blood sucking insects you have to run on your way from your car to the front door in the summer. (His time for the
40-yard dash has decreased from 6.3 seconds to a speedy 4.5 seconds over the years).
Richard grew up in the Bronx, New York and later lived in Manhattan and small towns in New Jersey. He is a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School, Hunter College, and the University of Chicago. With the exceptions of the Museum of Natural History, Carnegie Hall, the Fillmore East, Madison Square Garden and Yankee Stadium, the big city scene never quite suited him. So in 1982, with his wife Susan, he moved to Maine, where the smaller scale, cooler summers, scenic beauty, friendly people, and slower pace are more to his liking.
Richard's primary activity away from the world of MECO custom seals is promoting the Rotary Youth Exchange program in Maine. Richard got started in this program when his son Jake spent his junior high school year as a Rotary exchange student in Japan. By helping high school kids from Maine go to other countries, and helping kids from abroad to spend an academic year in Maine he hopes that as people learn respect for each other's cultures they might eventually stop killing each other. At least it is worth a try...

- Animals - Cats, penguins
Like most of Woodex's employees, Richard wears several hats. He is the
principal inside sales contact for MECO seals, and produces virtually all of
the price quotations. He also manages MECO's custom materials purchasing,
working closely with Engineering personnel to ensure their latest custom designs are fabricated and available for filling orders. —Ed
